Words that need to be revived

Seeing the movie Transformers reminded me that back in the mid-'80s words with positive meanings like "rad," "bitchin'" and "fresh" were staple terms as the fellows and I used to bust up the plastic on our autobots and decepticons. Then about 1988 someone in the playground decided that "rad" was really actually "R.A.D. - Radioactive D&%k." That pretty much tarnished that word's reputation for good. Whereever that clever acronym came from I have no idea. The use of "Bitchin'" was always tenuous. Female peers would go tell on you and if an adult heard the word, they always thought you were saying the non-gerund form (which would then have no proper context for whatever you were describing; e.g. "those are some BITCH micro machines, dude") Once you were put in time out for cussing out something you were actually trying to praise, the yard duty, ours was a sour middle-aged chain smoking woman who always wore a "Hell Freezes Over" (early '90s Eagles reunion tour) t-shirt, would then wag her finger at you and admonish you for being too "fresh." They took our All-Spark.
